The top 10 scientific issues of human society 2019 were released at the second World Science and Technology Development Forum on Monday.
The issues were announced by Zhou Ji, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Richard Horton, editor-in-chief of The Lancet.
Focusing on the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the issues include the impact of environment change caused by human behavior on infectious diseases, technologies that can make food healthier and safer, and other topics mainly related to health, security and resources.
Scientists from more than 10 countries and regions, including China, the United States, Britain, Canada and Singapore participated in selecting the issues.
A research report on the world influence index of sci-tech journals was also released at the forum.
Themed "Trust, Cooperation, Development," the forum opened in Beijing Sunday.
