The city of Shenzhen in south China's Guangdong province on Thursday registered two new asymptomatic cases of the novel coronavirus, local authorities said Friday.

The two cases, reported in Longgang District, were detected during nucleic acid testing of close contacts under intensive medical observation, said the district's epidemic prevention and control headquarters.

Since May 21, 11 people have been identified as asymptomatic cases in Shenzhen.

Both the infections have been sent to hospital for treatment and their close contacts have been quarantined, with the nucleic acid test results negative.
