China is expected to have ample vegetable supply to meet the demand for the upcoming holidays, the country's agricultural ministry said Thursday.

Vegetable prices in China have seen increases in recent days partly due to disastrous weather conditions and rising costs, but the impact is short-lived and has only affected some regions, said Tang Ke, an official with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Vegetable production is generally "normal" for the whole year and for the upcoming holidays, Tang said, noting that sunny weather in northern China since late October is expected to help production and increase market supply.

The ministry will continue to support vegetable production while smoothing sales channels for farm produce to ensure ample supply for this winter and next spring, he added.
