More than 63 million people in China have so far been granted digital driver's licenses through an official mobile app, according to the Ministry of Public Security on Friday.
Friday alone saw over 3.9 million drivers receive their e-licenses, the ministry said, as China rolls out the practice across the country.
The digital licenses are valid across the country, with wide-ranging use in passenger and freight transport, vehicle rental and insurance services.
The efficiency of law enforcement and traffic control services have also been boosted, with drivers now able to present their e-licenses as valid proof during traffic control service and check scenarios, the ministry said.
China on Sept. 1 began issuing digital licenses in an initial 28 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
