Editor's note: China's top economic planner and five other ministerial departments recently published the latest master plan to protect the water ecosystem of Taihu Lake, the country's third-largest freshwater lake. The plan serves as an update to the 2008 version and puts forward phased targets to be met by 2025 and 2035. It proposes specific measures to address pollution, restore the ecosystem, ensure urban and rural water supply and promote green transformation of production and ways of life along key drainage basins of Taihu Lake.
