The Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies (ACCWS) released a report entitled "Keywords to Understand the Chinese Path to Modernization" in Chinese and English versions at the International Symposium on Chinese Path to Modernization and Global Development Initiative on July 28. The report interprets the key concepts and implications of the Chinese path to modernization through its five features, to help the international community better understand the path.
According to the report, China's modernization will be shared by a large population. Its people-centered development philosophy advocates that development is for the people and by the people and its benefits are shared by the people. China's approach to modernization targets common prosperity for all. It takes the people's desire for a better life as the goal of its efforts to address unbalanced and insufficient development. China's modernization is modernization with coordinated material and cultural-ethical progress. It means both improved living standards and rich cultural life. People have sufficient food, and conduct themselves with dignity and a strong sense of morality. Chinese path to modernization features harmony between humanity and nature. China promotes greener economic and social development, acting on the understanding that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets and that improving the environment equates to enhancing productive forces. The road to China's modernization is peaceful development. China will, as always, continue its efforts to safeguard world peace, contribute to global development, preserve international order, and build a global community of shared future.
The report, totaling 37,000 words, was drafted by ACCWS and the National Academy of Development and Strategy of Renmin University of China and translated by China Academy of Translation (CATL). The report brings together the advice from experts from the National Academy of Governance, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the National Development and Reform Commission. It is one of the public knowledge products of "Keywords to Understand the Global Community of Shared Future" issued by ACCWS and CATL.
