A good ecological environment is the most inclusive welfare for the public and the most welcome achievement for increasing people's happiness. In recent years, Guangzhou, the City of Flowers, has been pushing forward the campaign of building a beautiful and livable city and actively promoting the construction of the Pearl River Delta national forest city cluster and the Greater Bay Area Ecological Green City Alliance. Guangzhou has also been steadily implementing the "Green Beauty Guangdong" action plan and the province's new round of a large-scale greening campaign. The credentials of Guangzhou as a forest city have been strengthened, as has the quality of its park and road greening. Thanks to all those efforts, the City of Flower is now an ecologically sustainable city draped in year-round and ubiquitous green.

Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, and green is the most beautiful background color for high-quality development. Solidly promoting the construction of ecological civilization, Guangzhou has achieved remarkable results. Since last year, Guangzhou has advanced the construction of key ecological zones and completed the afforestation of 11.3 million square meters of high-quality water source forests; the city has built a total of 728 kilometers of eco-landscape tree belts and 609 kilometers of green waterside roads; in its carbon neutrality campaign, the city has afforested mountains measuring 2.5 million square meters.

Besides green, blue is another color that attests to Guangzhou's progress in environmental protection. Guangzhou met the country's PM2.5 standards on all days of 2022, with an average concentration of 22 micrograms per cubic meter, a new low. Its position as the cleanest national central city in terms of air quality has been further cemented. In 2023, Guangzhou will continue strengthening its coordinated campaign against PM2.5 and ozone pollution. The city will continue to protect its clear water and blue sky in its determined pollution prevention and control efforts. In addition, Guangzhou will also step up the prevention and control of solid waste pollution as it accelerates the pilot program of building a "solid waste-free city." Today, Guangzhou has gradually built a solid foundation for ecological protection, and urban spaces with Guangzhou characteristics are emerging for its people to enjoy a better living environment.
