Beijing's Haidian district will build a large AI model industrial cluster in Zhongguancun, featuring four distinctive industrial parks as the core, to promote the implementation of large model scenario applications, according to a press conference on "two zones" construction held yesterday in Beijing.
Covering an area of around 9.5 square kilometers in Zhonguancun, the four AI characteristic industrial parks — Wudaokou AI Industrial Park, Peking University Ximen AI Industrial Park, Zhongguancun West Part AI Industrial Park and Tsinghua Science Park — will be built first as the core area of the cluster, with a total construction area of 670,000 square meters.
"Over the past three years, we have seen a total of 1,735 new 'two-zones' projects, including 439 foreign-invested projects," said Hei Yu, deputy director of the Haidian branch of the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau. According to Hei, with the construction of the "two zones," Haidian district has continued optimizing its business environment and opening up to the outside world to fully integrate into the global innovation economy.
So far, Haidian has formed 49 institutional innovation cases, of which two have been replicated nationwide and seven have been popularized throughout the city. The four major elements of data, capital, talent and technology have converged together to make Zhongguancun a hub for technological innovation.
Haidian is currently home to more than 1,000 key AI companies, accounting for one-sixth of the nation's total. It has formed a full industrial chain layout including the basic, technological and application levels.
In the future, Zhongguancun will continue to expand the cluster's leading and developing areas to actively promote the implementation of large-model scenario applications across the entire district, according to the conference.
