A total of 80 young scientists from 35 countries and regions had submitted applications, with three being chosen after meticulous appraisals by a review committee formed by 11 internationally renowned experts. The winners, including Henry Snaith from Oxford University, Lou Xiongwen from City University of Hong Kong, and Zhang Qiang from Tsinghua University, were awarded during the opening ceremony for their contributions to perovskite-based photovoltaic cells, the synthesis of nano-structured materials and their applications, and lithium bond chemistry and the utilization of electrochemical energy storage, respectively. Initiated and implemented by the China Association for International Science and Technology Cooperation, the plan aims to invite young global scientists, representatives of science organizations, and science entrepreneurs to visit China. The visiting activities are expected to enhance communication between science communities, promote the sharing and application of technological achievements, explore ways of addressing global issues like climate change, the green economy, and low-carbon transport, and make contributions to the development of SDGs, according to the forum.

Jointly sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, the WYSS has become an important platform to enable young scientists to learn from each other and achieve their dreams.
