In 2016, the Luohu Hospital Group initiated a fall prevention program for the elderly, providing free installation of fall prevention handrails and equipment for permanent residents aged 60 and above in Luohu district who are in need of such support. To date, the Luohu Hospital Group has installed these safety devices in 1,546 households at no cost to the residents.

Eligible residents can make an appointment with the Luohu District Integrated Care Smart Home Service Platform or register at a community health center under the Luohu Hospital Group with their ID cards. Within a week, the community health center will arrange for an assessment.

Falls have become the leading cause of injury-related disability and death among Chinese citizens aged 65 and above. Over half of the elderly who visit medical institutions for injuries are due to falls. Approximately 30% of elderly individuals aged 65 and above experience falls annually, with the incidence rate soaring to 50% among those aged 80 and above.
