The world's first artificial intelligence living experience laboratory opened in Beijing's Haidian district on Monday, showcasing smart applications designed to improve the lives of older people and children.

At the lab, powered by large language models, children can generate personalized stories and pictures by speaking into a microphone, which can be printed and bound into colorful storybooks. The lab also allows children to upgrade traditional toys with chips and modules for interactive play. Additionally, older people can use AI to compose original songs by creating lyrics and melodies.

HGT Group Co., an AI company based in Haidian, stated that it is providing these innovative life experiences to promote the integration of AI into people's daily lives. The lab unveiled more than 50 cutting-edge AI products, including exoskeleton robots that assist older people in walking, robots that chat and play chess, programmable robot dogs that dance and do push-ups, and health detection systems that assess mental and physical well-being. Smart glasses that automatically generate subtitles for deaf people were also showcased.

In the lab's simulated living room for older people, a landline-like phone attracted the most visitors. By pressing "1", people can converse with an AI companion, capable of talking about memories, careers, life transitions, and other experiences. The system then generates a personalized memoir for the user based on these conversations.

AI has emerged as a transformative force, propelling a new era of scientific and technological advancement and fundamentally reshaping how people work and live.

As one of China's foremost AI hubs, Haidian is intensifying its efforts to use AI to benefit older adults and children and improve people's livelihoods.

According to the lab's representative, some smart products are already fully developed, while others are still being tested. The lab encourages citizens to provide feedback, needs, and ideas to facilitate product improvement and explore broader applications in education, healthcare, eldercare, entertainment, and assistance for disabled people.
