The Hong Ting Forum, themed on understanding the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), convened on Tuesday in Beijing, drawing more than 200 diplomats, think tank experts and journalists from over 60 countries for exchanges and discussions.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Qu Qingshan, president of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the institute's National High-Level Think Tank Council, highlighted the importance of the recently concluded third plenary session that was held as China embarks on a critical period of building a great country and moving toward national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.

Qu noted that Chinese modernization is constantly advancing amid the reform and opening up, and will undoubtedly open up broad prospects. He also emphasized the need to enhance capacity for opening up while expanding international cooperation.

Fu Hua, president of Xinhua News Agency and chairman of the academic committee of Xinhua Institute, a high-end think tank of Xinhua News Agency, remarked that the third plenary session systematically reviewed the experience gained since the launch of reform and opening up, particularly from comprehensively deepening reform in the new era, and issued overarching plans for further deepening reform to advance Chinese modernization.

This has offered the international community a valuable perspective to better understand China and Chinese modernization, Fu added.

The Hong Ting Forum, co-organized by the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Xinhua News Agency, hosted its inaugural event in 2022.
