Jingshan Park, situated along the Beijing Central Axis, experienced a 19% increase in visitors the week following the iconic axis being named a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Among the 15 heritage components, three are municipal parks - Jingshan, the Temple of Heaven, and Shejitan (the Altar of Land and Grain). Since 2018, nearly 92,000 square meters of heritage protection areas at the three municipal parks have been opened to the public, through measures such as evacuation and restoration.

The Beijing Municipal Administration Center of Parks has continuously enhanced the utilization of artifacts and ancient buildings, promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of fine traditional Chinese culture in municipal parks.

Through these efforts, 91.7% of Jingshan Park has become accessible by the public, contributing toward restoring the historical appearance of Beijing Central Axis.

Wang Bing, deputy director of Jingshan Park, said that the park has restored ancient halls to host a variety of cultural exhibitions to raise public awareness of the heritage protection of the Beijing Central Axis.

Meanwhile, Jingshan Park has launched cultural products themed around the Central Axis, combining cultural heritage protection with modern innovation.

In July, the number of visitors to the cultural and creative stores in the park increased by about 38.82%, and the related output value of these products increased by 46.8% compared to the previous month, Wang said.
