The State Grid Chifeng Power Supply Company commenced construction on a 500-kilovolt transmission and transformation project in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, on Aug. 15.

A key facility to ensure energy supply in Chifeng, the project stretches from Baqing to Dongshan, spanning 27.3 kilometers. Once operational, the project will supply about 10 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually to the Dongshan Industrial Park in Chifeng, equivalent to the power consumption of 4 million households.

The project marks a significant step by the State Grid Chifeng Power Supply Company in implementing China's energy development strategy, and it is also an important measure to increase the capacity of transmitting new energy. It will play a role in making use of Chifeng's resources , optimizing its power structure, and improving its energy efficiency.

The company has taken multiple measures to get the project's construction off the ground. A coordination team was tasked with communicating with local governments and holding meetings to facilitate coordination and address issues such as land acquisition. A special working group was responsible for overseeing and expediting the approval of forestry and grassland procedures, and completed all preliminary formalities within four months. All of these efforts have laid a solid foundation for the project's smooth progress.

The project is expected to replace the use of 3.3 million metric tons of coal each year, thus reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 7.8 million metric tons. This will effectively promote economic and social development in Chifeng and significantly enhance the power supply in the southern part of Chifeng.

The State Grid Chifeng Power Supply Company will optimize the project construction and management model. By fully leveraging its strengths in talent, management, and technology, the company will meticulously organize, and scientifically manage and advance the construction of the project, aiming to be a pacesetter in the industry.
