The 9th Beijing October Literature Festival will kick off on Saturday with the theme "Literature Embraces the Era, Reading Illuminates Life."

The event will follow a "1+17+N" structure, with Beijing as the main venue, 17 districts across the city participating, and various literary hotspots, bookstores, schools, and cultural spaces involved. This year's event will leverage the literary resources in neighboring Tianjin municipality and Hebei province, while setting up a sub-venue in Shanghai for the first time.

More than 60 online and offline activities are planned to promote high-quality literary creation and public participation. The opening ceremony will bring together writers from Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei to discuss their literary achievements over the past decade. The launch of Beijing Literary Review, the city's first journal dedicated to literary criticism, will also take place during the event.

Another highlight of the literature festival will be the "October Night of Literature," which will showcase classic works like "Teahouse" and "Thunderstorm" through readings, performances, and interviews.

Throughout the month, new book releases, literary tours, and exhibitions will celebrate Beijing's rich cultural heritage, reaffirming the city's role as a vibrant literary hub.
