Beijing IP court marks decade with achievements whitepaper

The Beijing Intellectual Property Court released a whitepaper Wednesday highlighting its achievements since its establishment in 2014, demonstrating its role in safeguarding intellectual property rights and promoting innovation in China.

The court has handled 201,984 cases involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, unfair competition and monopolies, according to the White Paper on Intellectual Property Court's Trial of Cases for Past Decade. It has processed more than 36,201 cross-border intellectual property cases involving parties from over 100 countries and regions.

Notable achievements include presiding over China's first drug patent linkage litigation and the first case involving rights to registered data sets.

The court has supported China's innovation-driven development strategy through cross-regional cooperation and specialized research. Its efforts have contributed to data infrastructure development and the protection of emerging pharmaceutical and telecommunications industries.

It has pioneered judicial reform, implementing a range of innovative measures to improve efficiency and effectiveness. These include optimizing the allocation of judicial resources, promoting alternative dispute resolution, and leveraging technology to streamline processes.

The court has built expertise through specialized training and has been at the forefront of judicial research and development.
