World Conference on Traditional Medicine concludes in Beijing

The 2024 World Conference on Traditional Medicine concluded in Beijing on Wednesday. Yin Yong, mayor of Beijing, presided over the closing ceremony, and Zeng Yixin, vice minister of the National Health Commission, gave a closing speech.

In his address, Zeng highlighted China's commitment to collaborating with countries to promote the implementation of the WHO's Global Strategy for Traditional Medicine 2025-2034, and building a global health community. 

He said China is willing to share experiences in developing traditional Chinese medicine to benefit more individuals in various nations and regions. He stressed the importance of collaboration in integrating traditional medicine into global health governance and innovation, and invited countries to present their unique traditional medicine cultures in China.

Rudi Eggers, director for Integrated Health Services at the WHO, also addressed the attendees during the ceremony. 

The event featured the release of the "Beijing Declaration of the 2024 World Traditional Medicine Conference," which details initiatives focused on talent exchange and capacity building in traditional medicine, as well as international scientific research cooperation. The participants also pledged to support the implementation of the Global Strategy for Traditional Medicine 2025-2034, and jointly promote the development of traditional medicine.
