On Sunday, Beijing Subway's Line 3, Line 12, and Changping Line will begin trial operations of extensions totaling 43 kilometers. The expansions bring the total length of the city's subway network to 879 kilometers.

Line 3 runs from Dongsi Shitiao Station to Dongbabei Station in the eastern central city area and passes through Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts. The line spans 10 underground stations, five of which are interchange stations connecting to Lines 2, 17, 10, 14 and 12. It also connects with Chaoyang Railway Station, enhancing railway-subway connectivity.

Line 12 stretches from Sijiqingqiao Station to Dongbabei Station, traversing Haidian, Xicheng, Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts from west to east. The line comprises 20 stations and connects with 12 other lines. In addition, Jimenqiao Station on the Changping Line serves as an interchange with Line 12.

The three new lines integrate with multiple north-south subway lines and improve accessibility in various residential areas. They will optimize the transportation network, alleviate traffic congestion, and enhance the development of nearby areas along the routes.

All the subway stations are designed to harmonize with their surrounding environment and nearby landmarks. Dongsi Shitiao Station incorporates a classical style, reflecting its history as one of the earliest interchange stations, while Workers' Stadium Station radiates a vibrant sports and technology atmosphere. Line 12, which traverses more than 70 bridges, features a bridge-themed design. At Sanyuanqiao Station, where Line 10, Line 12, and the Airport Express intersect, the design highlights overpasses as symbolic elements, enhanced by modern aesthetics and lighting.

Interchange instructions are thoughtfully designed for easy passenger navigation. Additionally, subway stations offer a variety of services, including power bank rentals, luggage storage, and options to purchase breakfast or toys.
