A new research compilation on Beijing's swift-response system for public complaints was unveiled at the 2024 Beijing Forum on Swift Response to Public Complaints, running Dec. 18-19 in the capital.

The bilingual publication presents findings in both Chinese and English. The Chinese section examines how the city's swift-response approach aligns with the "Fengqiao model," a distinctly Chinese governance approach. The English portion shares Beijing's experiences using international academic frameworks.

Zhao Rui, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, explained how Beijing has prioritized citizen needs by streamlining its complaint response system in recent years.

The research highlights Beijing's use of artificial intelligence and big data to modernize its complaint-handling process, leading to more efficient responses to citizen concerns.

This smart governance approach has not only improved government efficiency but also created better ways for citizens to monitor and evaluate public services, strengthening government-public relationships.

"The people-oriented, innovative, and adaptive nature of Beijing's reforms not only respond to local governance issues but also contribute a 'Chinese solution' for tackling common challenges faced by megacities worldwide," Zhao said.
