Six high-tech clusters, including automotive and aerospace, have now reached billion-yuan scale. Notable developments include the rapid rise of Xiaomi EVs, successful launches of commercial Ceres-1 rocket, and the deployment of self-driving cars to Beijing Daxing International Airport and Beijing South Railway Station.
"The southern part of the city has now already established six billion-yuan high-tech industry clusters in automotive, aerospace, rail transportation, biomedicine, industrial internet, and new-generation information technology," said an official from the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform.
Key functional areas are driving transformation. The Lize Financial Business District has attracted a significant number of financial technology companies, creating a burgeoning ecosystem centered on finance and technology. Further developments are also seen in the south Beijing Central Axis area and Daxing International Airport Economic Zone, where sectors such as environment, culture, transportation, and biomedicine are advancing in parallel.
Additionally, improvements in education and healthcare sectors are enhancing the quality of life in the region, with the establishment of new schools, medical facilities, and the completion of regional elderly care centers.
Transportation infrastructure is also being upgraded. The Yizhuang Railway Station has commenced passenger operations, reducing travel time to Tianjin to just 25 minutes. Upgrades to the suburban railway's sub-center line have begun, and construction has started on the new 108 expressway. The extension of Jingliang Highway has also been completed. These improvements are enhancing connectivity within southern Beijing and with the city center and the sub-center.
