Beijing is set to organize nearly 10,000 cultural activities during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday, including lantern fairs, temple fairs, flower exhibitions, ice and snow events, and cultural performances, according to a press conference on Monday.

The city will host 24 temple fairs and lantern fairs, featuring themes such as intangible cultural heritage and the Grand Canal. Tongzhou district will host the Grand Canal Market Fair for the first time, providing 3,400 booths.

Over 100 winter-themed events are planned. Parks like the Summer Palace, Beihai Park, and Taoranting Park, along with 13 major snow resorts, will offer ice and snow entertainment. The municipal sports bureau is issuing 30,000 consumption coupons for ice and snow activities, while ski resorts are providing various discounts.

More than 3,000 cultural and artistic events will take place during the holiday, including 2,736 performances such as concerts, dramas, and Beijing Opera. Museums across the city will host 175 exhibitions and cultural experience activities.

Major parks will host over 200 cultural events, such as the plum blossom exhibition at the Summer Palace, the orchid exhibition at Zhongshan Park, and the cherry blossom exhibition at Yuyuantan Park.

Beijing is also offering its largest-ever subsidies for movie tickets, totaling 33 million yuan (US$4.53 million). The city's Spring Festival Gala will air on the first day of the Chinese New Year, while 30 online video platforms will showcase popular films and TV programs to provide diverse viewing options for netizens.

During the holiday, Xiaomi Auto will hold open days, inviting the public to visit its factory. Arctic Ocean Yili Park will exhibit its smart production line, where visitors can experience making soda drink and bread.

Beijing is also preparing its festive decorations, with over 260,000 lights adorning main streets. Light shows will illuminate 10 landmarks, such as the Olympic Tower, CBD, and Zhongguancun. In addition, 22 major business areas such as Wangfujing, Xidan, and Guomao will feature festive lighting to enhance the shopping experience.
