Luohu District has transformed the space beneath the Yayuan Overpass into a vibrant leisure park equipped with sports facilities and a pet-friendly area. Since its trial opening on Jan. 10, the park has become a bustling hub, attracting nearly 1,000 daily visitors to its sports courts alone.
Spanning over 10,000 square meters, this lush urban park offers a refreshing escape for residents. Young people race across the football field, seniors dance in the open areas, and even pets have their dedicated space to frolic freely. With its aesthetic appeal, multifunctional design, and community-friendly atmosphere, the park has been well acclaimed by local residents.
Approaching the park, the sounds of activity echo from the sports courts. Unlike traditional parks, the Yayuan Overpass Community Park is situated beneath a busy overpass, leveraging the space’s expansive and level layout. A blue jogging path leads visitors to an open-air five-a-side football pitch and a standard basketball court.
Strategically located at the intersection of Dongmen, Cuizhu, and Sungang subdistricts, the Yayuan Overpass serves as a key transportation hub connecting Wenjin Road, Dongmen Road, and Sungang Road.
The park is thoughtfully equipped with seating, fitness equipment, restrooms, and a dedicated pet area spanning over 1,000 square meters. The pet zone includes a “Pet Station,” with plans to introduce grooming services and pet product exhibitions in the future.
“This area is surrounded by densely populated neighborhoods. After consulting with residents, we decided to repurpose the under-bridge space to meet their demand for green areas and public sports facilities,” explained a representative from the Luohu Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau.
The project aligns with Luohu's broader urban enhancement plan, which focuses on maximizing the use of underutilized spaces and transforming neglected corners into vibrant community assets. As these initiatives accelerate, more projects like the Yayuan Overpass Community Park will be introduced to improve both the aesthetics and livability of the district.
