The Date Garden is the site of the CPC central leadership, eight kilometers away from Yan'an. It covers an area of 540,000 square meters, with 20 cave dwellings, a kind of traditional house in Shaanxi that is carved out of hills, along with some 80 tile-roofed houses and an assembly hall. Yan'an is a prefecture-level city in Shaanxi Province in northwest China. It was near the endpoint of the Long March, and became the center of the Chinese Anti-Japanese War (1937-1945) and China's War of Liberation (1945-1949).
