Police have solved 6,880 drug-related crimes and seized some 8,400 related suspects since an anti-drug campaign was launched by the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on Jan. 24.

About 5,400 kg of narcotics including heroin, methamphetamine and ketamine has been confiscated, according to a statement released by the MPS on Monday.

During the campaign, police cracked down on 4,517 street drug-selling cases and nabbed 5,003 street-level drug suspects. A total of 119 drug rings were busted and 128 entertainment venues thought to be involved in the drugs trade were closed or regulated, said the statement.

The MPS also set up a hotline and webpage for the public to provide tips about drug-related crimes.

According to the MPS, as of the end of February, the police have received about 1,104 such tips. Endi
