"Tiny Times" remains top of China's film charts

Domestic drama "Tiny Times" ruled China's box office charts taking 153.6 million yuan (25 million U.S. dollars) in the week ending July 7.

The movie, which was inspired by author-turned-director Guo Jingming's novel of the same name, has raked in 426.6 million yuan in the Chinese mainland since its debut on June 27, according to figures released by China Film News on Tuesday.

"Blind Detective," a thriller starring Hong Kong actor Andy Lau, was second in the charts earning 87.3 million yuan. The film, which debuted on July 4, tells the story of a veteran detective's efforts to help probe a murder case.

The Zach Snyder-directed movie "Man of Steel" came in third pocketing 68.3 million yuan.

Not far behind was action-comedy "Badges of Fury," which stars Jet Li. It made 58 million yuan in the week.

"Man of Tai Chi," an action film directed by Hollywood star Keanu Reeves, was fifth in the charts. The movie made 18.2 million yuan in the week. Endi
