Indonesia Police, local Hospitals, oversea Chinese and the Chinese consulate general are actively participating in the rescue effort of the Chinese visitors following their bus plunged into a ravine when traveling on a winding road in Indonesia's resort island of Bali on Monday.

The bus, carrying 13 Chinese visitors from Central China's Henan Province, was heading for Uluwatu, a seaside temple attraction in the southern tip of Bali before crashing.

The fatal accident killed five people on sight, including a tour guide and a driver from Indonesia, and another one during the treatment in hospital. Besides, three others were seriously injured when the bus plunged into the 15-meter valley.

The Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Surabaya immediately activated the emergency response mechanism following the accident and sent staff to Bali to take care of the rescue effort. Currently the rescue for the incident is being well conducted.

Zhang Yusen, Chinese Deputy Consul-General in Surabaya told Xinhua that his office has been keeping close communication with the Center for Consular Assistance and Protection of the Foreign Minister in China and updating the progress of the accident investigation through Internet and other channels.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. However, the brake of the bus seemed to lose control on a steep slope, according to one of the injured visitors.

The Consulate General has also urged the travel agency who was in charge of the visit to inform the relatives of the victims and help them to prepare visa to Indonesia as quickly as possible.

The four bodies of the Chinese holidaymakers are kept at Sanglah Hospital in Bali's capital city Denpasar, while some injured ones are treated at the private-owned Bali International Medical Center in South Bali (BIMC). All the badly injured ones are in stable condition and have no risk of death after surgical operation on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

The Bali hospital shows their professionalism in helping the Chinese. Donny, an emergency physician from BIMC, said he and his team headed for the scene of the incident swiftly after getting a call and communicated patiently with Chinese visitors.

Liao Yulin, an oversea Chinese in Bali told Xinhua that she frequently posted the updated condition of the injured Chinese tourists through her microblog to inform the relatives of the victims.

"I have contacted all the relatives of the victims, because I can speak Indonesian language. I called the hospital and kept the relatives of the victims updated," Liao said.

Liao said the relatives of several victims are on the way to Indonesia, and she was even requested to provide them pick up and accommodation help. Endi
