UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is expected to attend a Group of 77 (G77) plus China summit in Bolivia next month, the government said Monday.
Ban has confirmed his attendance, said Reymi Ferreira, coordinator of the summit, in Santa Cruz, the venue of the summit.
"He has also expressed his full support for the Bolivian government in organizing the event," said Ferreira, whose country is holding the rotating presidency of G77.
Leaders of Argentina, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador and Iran have confirmed their participation in the June 14-15 event, though the government expects 20 heads of state and more than 100 high-level delegates.
The summit in Santa Cruz coincides with the 50th anniversary of the G77, which groups 133 developing countries. Endi
