A flight test for the engine that will power China's first large passenger aircraft went smoothly, the engine maker said on Wednesday.
Jean-Paul Herteman, CEO of French aviation firm Safran, told a news briefing that a flight test for the LeapX engine on Tuesday was successful.
The LeapX will be installed on C919 aircraft. The first C919 is being assembled by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China in Shanghai and it is expected to make its maiden flight at the end of 2015.
Safran is collaborating with the Aviation Industry Corporation of China on the the LeapX and other aero engines. Enditem
