Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Covic on Friday, pledging to develop stronger ties with the country.

Xi thanked Covic for attending the commemorations of the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, saying the heroic acts of the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina are also familiar to the Chinese people.

The Chinese president stressed Bosnia and Herzegovina is a "reliable good friend" of China in Central and Eastern Europe.

"As this year marks the 20th anniversary of bilateral ties, China is willing to work with Bosnia and Herzegovina to advance bilateral ties on the basis of mutual respect and benefit," Xi said.

He called on both sides to consolidate mutual trust, maintain high-level exchanges and dialogue at different levels, increase understanding of each other, enhance practical cooperation and boost people-to-people exchanges.

Covic said he was honored to be present at Chinese commemorations of World War II. He congratulated China on the success of the events and applauded the positive message China sent to the international community.

Covic said he was delighted to visit China on the 20th anniversary of bilateral ties, expressing willingness to promote economic, investment, energy, infrastructure and cultural exchanges with China. Endi
