Cold air cooling north China is moving eastward while rain will linger in the south, the weather observatory forecast on Sunday.

Cold front will bring snow and sleet to parts of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Yellow River and the Huaihe River valleys, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said.

The ensuing wind and temperature drops will disperse fog and smog lingering in the north.

Heavy rain that has soaked China's southern and southwestern areas will continue into Sunday and rainfall could be huge in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guangdong Province.

In the coming week, frequent cold fronts will bring steady temperature drops to north China, according to the NMC experts. Endi
