URUMQI, May 28 (Xinhua) -- A cultural relics collector Alip Jappar in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region recently donated 11,696 folk antiques to the museum of Hotan prefecture.

Experts said the relics, including accessories, coins, vessels, fabric and documents, mostly dated back to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). They reflects the development of agriculture, craftsmanship and life of different ethnic groups in Xinjiang and have significant historic and artistic values.

Alip Jappar, 41, opened his own jade company in 2008 and has been collecting cultural relics from the region ever since.

Wang Weidong, head of the regional cultural heritage bureau, said the donation reflected the collector's strong sense of social and cultural responsibility and contributed to local public cultural service.

"I donated the antiques in order to carry out corporate social responsibility as an entrepreneur," Alip Jappar said. "At the same time, I also did it to make the best from the items by allowing people to know better about the local culture and strengthen friendship between ethnic groups." Enditem
