GUIYANG, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Construction of a data storage center for China's technology firm Huawei began Wednesday in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province.
The Qixinghu data storage center, with the first phase of construction covering an area of 400,000 square meters and installation of about 600,000 storage servers, will be used to store Huawei's management data from 170 countries.
The center will also serve as a training base for its global IT maintenance engineers, college interns and experienced employees.
The provincial government of Guizhou signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei in November. Both parties agreed to deepen cooperation in big data application and cloud computing.
Guizhou is China's first pilot zone for big data. The technology is being widely applied in government management, business and daily life. Enditem
