LONDON, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.30 percent, or 22.43 points, to close at 7,556.24 points.
St James's Place, a British wealth management business, soared 4.07 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. The British multinational utility company Centrica and the British financial service company Hargreaves Lansdown increased by 4.07 percent and 2.88 percent respectively.
The British multinational diversified engineering business Smiths Group was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 1.24 percent.
