DALIAN, China, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Shenhua beat Henan Jianye 2-0 in the 14th round to secure a top eight spot in the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Sunday.
Striker Bi Jinhao scored a brace in the first half to seal the win for the Shanghai side in the last round of the first CSL phase.
Shanghai Shenhua wrapped up with 21 points on the fourth place in the Dalian group, while Henan languished at the bottom with six points.
The 16-team CSL was split into two groups respectively in Dalian and Suzhou. Both groups will play 14 rounds in the first phase, which is to end next Monday.
The top four of each group will play the second phase between October 16-December 12 in Suzhou.
The last eight will fight off relegation, with the last to be relegated and the second to last will vie with the winners of the second-tier league. Enditem
