HEFEI, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- With two players scoring over 20 points, Xinjiang beat Shanxi 88-69 in the quarterfinal of the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) in Bengbu, east China's Anhui province on Sunday, securing the last berth in semifinals.

Scoring 25 points in the game, Xinjiang's Wang Siyu pocketed 14 points in the first quarter alone and helped Xinjiang establish a 70-50 advantage after the third quarter expired.

Shanxi outscored Xinjiang by one point in the last quarter but could not erase the deficit and lost the semifinal ticket to Xinjiang 88-69.

Xinjiang's center Han Xu had a game-high 28 points. Wang Siyu bagged 25 points, with a game-high 11 assists. Wu Tongtong registered a team-high 22 points for Shanxi.

"Xinjiang had 44 rebounds in the game, 17 more than what we got. That's an important reason why we lost tonight," said Shanxi executive coach Pan Jiang.

Xinjiang will face Jiangsu in the semifinal on Tuesday. Inner Mongolia will fight against Sichuan on the same day. Enditem
