ZHUJI, China, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Guangzhou Loong Lions edged the Jiangsu Dragons 90-89 in the 28th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Sunday.

Although Jiangsu made a good opening with a 20-16 lead in the first quarter, Guo Kai paced Guangzhou to end the first half 36-35 with 11 points and three rebounds.

Guangzhou continued enlarging the gap to 13 points when the third quarter ended.

Dezmine Wells led Jiangsu to fight back hard in the last quarter but only to cut off the deficit to one point in the end.

"Overall, our players played well, though they seemed to be less concentrated with some offensive turnovers which gave the opponents a chance to narrow the gap," said Guangzhou coach Guo Shiqiang.

Wells contributed a game-high 37 points and 12 rebounds, and Wu Guanxi added 15 points and 11 rebounds for Jiangsu.

Dallas Moore scored a team-high 32 points for Guangzhou, and Guo Kai notched a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds. Enditem
