ZHUJI, China, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- With six players scoring in double digit points, Liaoning Flying Leopards defeated Shandong Heroes 117-105 here in the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Tuesday.
Shandong could not stop Liaoning's guards Guo Ailun and Zhao Jiwei on the floor. Guo Ailun contributed a game-best 26 points, added with nine assists and four steals. Zhao, who was named the MVP of last month, had 21 points, including three 3-pointers, four assists and four steals. O.J. Mayo got 20 points for the Liaoning side. Shandong's Lester Hudson, the Liaoning's former nucleus, scored a team-high 24 points.
The Liaoning grabbed a 13-3 lead at the end of the first quarter while Shandong reduced their turnovers and hit back at halftime with 48-48. Liaoning had a 13-0 run in the middle of the final quarter. Shandong missed some 3-pointers and had to see Liaoning wrap up the victory.
"We had a tough game, but everybody on the court worked hard. I hope our players can gain experience through this kind of competition," Shandong's head coach Gong Xiaobin said after the game. Enditem
