BEIJING, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- Domestic drama movie "Embrace Again" led the Chinese mainland box office on its premiere Friday, data from the China Movie Data Information Network showed Saturday.
The film revolves around stories of a group of ordinary people during the COVID-19 lockdown in Wuhan, spotlighting people's mutual support at the trying times in early 2020.
Directed by Xue Xiaolu and starring Huang Bo and Jia Ling, the film raked in over 270 million yuan (around 42.32 million U.S. dollars) Friday, accounting for more than a half of the daily total.
"G Storm," the fifth installment of a crime thriller franchise, ranked second, generating about 145 million yuan on its first day of release.
It was followed by a romance movie "Lost and Found," with a daily box office earning of nearly 80 million yuan on its opening day. Enditem
