Balance of loans in Shanghai rises at end of December

SHANGHAI, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- The balance of loans in Shanghai stood at 9.6 trillion yuan (1.51 trillion U.S. dollars) at the end of December last year, up 13.5 percent from the previous year.

The balance of loans in Chinese yuan reached 8.83 trillion yuan at the end of December, up 13.2 percent year on year, 1 percentage point higher than the previous month in growth rate, according to the People's Bank of China Shanghai Head Office.

In 2021, new yuan loans stood at 1.03 trillion yuan, 416.2 billion yuan more than the previous year.

The balance of foreign currency loans hit 121.9 billion U.S. dollars at the end of December, up 19.6 percent year on year.

At the end of December, the balance of Shanghai's deposits stood at 17.58 trillion yuan, climbing 12.8 percent over one year earlier. Enditem
