BEIJING, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Beijing Guoan midfielder Li Ke flew to London on Saturday where he will have a third operation to treat an "uncommon" leg complaint.
Li, also known as Nico Yennaris, on Saturday posted on social media a picture showing himself checking in at a Beijing airport.
Li had just joined up with the Beijing side in mid-May after returning from London, where he had had two leg surgeries in late November and stayed for rehabilitation.
Without kicking a ball with the team, he was sent back to Beijing to receive treatment at the end of May after his leg problems, which he called "an injury/condition rare to see in footballers", recurred.
On Friday night, Li released a video providing an update on his injury situation.
"Unfortunately last season I suffered a lot of pain in my legs. I ended up having to do a lot of scans and medical checks which came to find out I had a blood vessel problem in my legs," he said in the video.
"I had two surgeries last season to try to unblock the artery and vessel to help the blood flow. Everything went well and then this season I suffered a re-block in the blood vessel, which means I have to now have a third surgery to unblock the blood vessel."
"I will be undergoing the surgery in July. I will fly back to England and take the surgery in London, then I will work hard to do my rehab in the UK," he added.
Li played three matches with Beijing Guoan last season. Enditem
