INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURAL BREEDING CENTER
An international agricultural breeding center will be built in south China's tropical province of Hainan, with aims to meet the global challenge of climate change and ensure food security.
The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the International Rice Research Institute, and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center signed a letter of cooperation to establish the breeding center at a science and technology park in Sanya city, Hainan Province.
CELADON KILN SITE
Archaeologists have found a celadon kiln site dating back to the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) at a village in central China's Hunan Province. The site was found in Yongxing Village in the city of Liling in April when a group of archaeologists conducted a survey of the Lushui basin.
The ruins of the celadon kiln measure 7.2 meters in length and 2 to 2.15 meters in width.
ARTIFICIAL HEART
China's National Medical Products Administration has issued marketing approval for a China-developed "artificial heart" for severe heart failure. The "heart" is an implantable ferrofluids-driven left ventricular assist device.
It was developed by the TEDA International Cardiovascular Hospital based in north China's Tianjin Municipality and the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, who have cooperated to carry out research on the third-generation ventricular assist device in China since 2009. Enditem
