BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.
NEW SATELLITES
China on Wednesday sent six new satellites into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.
The satellites, including a new space technology test satellite and a test satellite for probing atmospheric density, were launched by a Lijian-1 carrier rocket at 12:12 p.m. Beijing Time and entered the orbit successfully.
TIANZHOU-3 CARGO CRAFT
China's Tianzhou-3 cargo craft re-entered the atmosphere in a controlled manner at 11:31 a.m. (Beijing Time) Wednesday, according to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).
Most of the spacecraft's components burned up during the re-entry, and a small amount of its debris fell into the scheduled safe waters of the South Pacific, the CMSA said.
EYE-MOVEMENT DATABASE OF CHINESE READING
Researchers have built a database recording eye-movement when reading Chinese, according to a recent research article published in the journal Scientific Data.
The database was developed by the Institute of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. When reading 8,551 Chinese words, nine eye-movements were recorded from 1,718 participants who took part in the 57 Chinese sentence reading experiments, noted the research article.
The database enables researchers to efficiently test their theoretical and computational hypotheses on Chinese reading using a large number of words, as well as indicating the processing difficulty of Chinese words during text reading. Enditem
