GUANGZHOU, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Goalie Zhang Jianzhi saved a late penalty for Guangzhou FC to hold 10-man Tianjin Jinmen Tigers to a goalless draw in the 17th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) here on Friday.

Both sides created few chances and committed more than 10 fouls in the match.

The Tianjin side was punished first in the 15th minute when young forward Shi Yan got a straight red card after his reckless tackle hit Cai Mingmin's head. Despite playing with a one-man advantage, the home team couldn't control the match and create goal-scoring opportunities.

In the 82nd minute, Guangzhou goalkeeper Zhang knocked over David Andujar in the penalty area and gave Tianjin a penalty kick, but Zhang immediately made up for his own error by denying Robert Beric's shot.

After the draw, Guangzhou FC still sits 16th in the standings with 11 points from 17 matches, only one point away from the relegation zone. Tianjin has 20 points to rank 10th.

Due to the COVID-19 concern, the majority of 17th-round CSL matches have been postponed.

In the 18th round, Guangzhou FC will play the derby against Guangzhou city next Tuesday, while Tianjin Jinmen Tigers will meet Henan Songshan Longmen next Wednesday. Enditem
