BEIJING, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

LOBSTER-EYE TELESCOPE

Scientists eyeing the distant universe are sometimes inspired by the diverse creatures on Earth. The lobster-eye telescope developed and launched by Chinese scientists is the latest example.

The National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC) recently revealed the world's first batch of large-field X-ray maps of the sky captured by the lobster-eye telescope, or the Lobster Eye Imager for Astronomy (LEIA).

The LEIA, launched into space in late July, is a large-field X-ray imaging telescope, the first of its kind in the world, according to the NAOC. It is expected that with the "lobster eye," people will be able to efficiently observe the mysterious transient phenomena in the universe.

LANGUAGE NEUROIMAGING DATASET

Chinese researchers have presented a synchronized multimodal neuroimaging dataset covering almost 10,000 Chinese words for studying brain language processing, according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on Monday.

The dataset sorted and processed functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and magnetoencephalography (MEG) data on the same 12 healthy volunteers while the volunteers listened to six hours of naturalistic stories, as well as high-resolution structural, diffusion MRI, and resting-state fMRI data for each participant, the recently published research article reported in the journal Scientific Data.

LECTURE FROM WENTIAN

Taikonauts aboard China's Tiangong space station will for the first time livestream a science lecture from the Wentian lab module, the China Manned Space Agency said on Tuesday.

The class is scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday (Beijing Time). The Shenzhou-14 taikonauts Chen Dong, Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe will amaze audiences with their introduction of the lab module, micro-gravity performances of sci-tech experiments, and presentation of in-orbit plant growth research.

The three space teachers will also interact with students on Earth during the class, which is aimed at popularizing the knowledge of manned space flights and encouraging young people to develop an interest in science, the agency said in a statement. Enditem
