Guo reaches milestone as Liaoning wins 5th consecutive game

ZHUJI, China, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Guo Ailun moved up to the 10th place on the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league's all-time scoring list as the Liaoning Flying Leopards beat the Beijing Royal Fighters 110-92 here on Sunday.

Guo scored 26 points to accumulate 8,264 points in the CBA league, surpassing legend Mengke Bateer (8,260). The ninth scorer is All-Star guard Li Nan, who tallied 8,288 points.

Guo's teammate Zhao Jiwei had nine points and 14 assists in Liaoning's fifth consecutive win.

Led by Guo, Liaoning had a 7-0 run midway through the first quarter and went 33-25 ahead.

With five minutes and 35 seconds left before the half break, Beijing turned the game around at 40-39, only to see Guo pocket four points and help his team regain the upper hand.

Liaoning made a 7-0 run at the start of the third period but centers Yu Changdong and Isaac Haas combined to help the Beijing Royal Fighters tie the match.

Guo, Li Xiaoxu and Cong Mingchen then hit three 3-pointers as Liaoning held a double-digit advantage after the third quarter.

Zhao dished out two outstanding assists in the fourth quarter to help expand Liaoning's advantage to 21 points and make the game beyond doubt.

The Beijing Ducks extended their winning streak to four games after seeing off the Nanjing Monkey Kings 90-83.

Ty Jacob Leaf had 19 points plus 16 rebounds, and Zeng Fanbo scored 15 points for the Beijing Ducks. Zhao Boqing of Nanjing finished with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Elsewhere, the Shenzhen Aviators beat the Ningbo Rockets 96-80, and the Tianjin Pioneers lost to the Sichuan Blue Whales 117-115. Enditem
