WUHAN, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chengdu Rongcheng, playing with 10 men, defeated Shanghai Port 2-1, while Tianjin Jinmen Tigers edged out Wuhan Three Towns 1-0 in the 26th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Saturday.
Chengdu took the offensive early against Shanghai, scoring in the third minute with a long volley from Gan Chao outside the penalty area. However, their momentum was halted when Richard Windbichler of Austria committed a foul and received a red card in the 30th minute. Despite the numerical advantage, Shanghai couldn't equalize against the 10-man Chengdu side before halftime.
Eight minutes into the second half, Chengdu's Ai Kesen successfully converted a penalty kick, extending their lead to 2-0. In the third minute of injury time, Markus Pink netted a consolation goal for Shanghai.
With the 2-1 victory, Chengdu climbed from 7th to 4th place in the standings.
In other matches on Saturday, Tianjin Jinmen Tigers secured a 1-0 win over Wuhan Three Towns. Dalian Pro and Shandong Taishan played to a goalless draw, as did Meizhou Hakka and Henan FC. Enditem
