BEIJING, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government on Friday allocated 15 million yuan (about 2.11 million U.S. dollars) of funds to repair roads in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the northwest of the country, in the wake of Tuesday's 7.1-magnitude earthquake.
Local transport authorities in Xinjiang have cleared landslides after the quake hit the region, and thoroughly checked infrastructure that could be impacted by the quake like bridges and tunnels, according to the Ministry of Transport.
Work has been done to check the condition of damaged bridges, while road sections, bridges and tunnels with potential hazards are temporarily closed and under 24-hour monitoring, said the ministry. Enditem
