DOHA, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Austria's Alexandri sisters and Spain's Dennis Gonzalez Boneu have been honored as the 2023 Artistic Swimmers of the Year, World Aquatics announced on Friday.

Anna-Maria and Eirini-Marina Alexandri became the first Austrian artistic swimmers to win gold at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships courtesy of their victory in the women's duet free. Vasiliki Alexandri claimed silver in both solo technical and solo free in Fukuoka.

Gonzalez Boneu clinched the men's solo free title and paired with Emma Garcia to claim mixed duet technical silver and with Mireia Hernandez Luna to seal mixed duet free bronze.

"Last year was my first World Championships so it was a dream come true for me," said the 19-year-old. "Over these years, I express my soul so I am really happy to receive this award." Enditem
