HONG KONG, July 20 (Xinhua) -- The 17th Military Summer Camp for Hong Kong Youth concluded on Saturday at San Wai Barracks of the Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

About 500 young people from more than 130 secondary schools in Hong Kong, dressed in uniforms, held a solemn flag-raising ceremony amid the magnificent national anthem, showing the training results of the past week to the guests and their parents.

In the military summer camp, the young people received military training, attended lectures on patriotism and national defense education, and participated in other activities, spending a fulfilling time in the military camp.

More than 5,000 Hong Kong students have participated in the Military Summer Camp for Hong Kong Youth since its launch in July 2005. It allows young people to gain an understanding of the country's situation and national defense knowledge. It also aims to develop young people's leadership skills, spirit of hard work, and self-discipline. Enditem
