PRIMARY DIABETES CARE

A collaborative team of Chinese and Singaporean scientists has pioneered an artificial intelligence (AI) tool for primary diabetes care, which is the world's first multimodal large language model (LLM) tailored for managing this prevalent chronic disease.

The image-plus-language platform, known as DeepDR-LLM, is designed to harness the power of LLM and deep learning to provide a comprehensive solution for medical image diagnostics and the delivery of tailored treatment recommendations, according to the study published recently in the journal Nature Medicine.

NEW PLANT SPECIES

Researchers recently described a new plant species, Paraphlomis baiwanensis, found in a nature reserve in south China's Guangdong Province. The findings have been published in the international journal of plant taxonomy, PhytoKeys.

A scientific expedition team spotted an unknown species from the Lamiaceae family during an in-depth biodiversity survey across several karst mountains in 2023 in Qingyuan City, Guangdong.

PALEONTOLOGICAL DISCOVERY

A Chinese paleontological research team has identified a new species of tyrannosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 72 to 66 million years ago.

The fossil specimen includes a nearly complete skull, along with tail vertebrae and hind limb bones, marking the first deep-snouted tyrannosaur discovered in southeastern China. Enditem
